Nothing beats a house that smells like holiday baking, and my grandmother’s house was heaven when I was growing up.  I can’t imagine my kids not knowing that smell, so I’ve taken this up since she passed away several years ago.

She cooked cookies such as datenut pinwheels, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, and pizzelles. There was also pecan and pumpkin Pie, fruitcake, and chocolate covered cherries. All written on small 3×5 index cards that I’ve scanned into my computer, magnified, re-printed, and laminated. However, I’ve improved every recipe other than the pizzelles (I have her old pizzelle iron). I like to think she would approve of my changes.

Oh, and pumpkin pie has officially be retired – Sweet potato pie is superior in every way, and my mother agreed!
